Moving on . . .

Well, I'm nearing the end of my PCP deal so have been looking around for a replacement. In the absence of a face-lifted Citigo I decided to go elsewhere and looked at the smart forfour, the Renault Twingo and the Skoda Fabia. After test driving all three I preferred the Twingo for its chic look and the drive - not as refined as the Citigo, of course, but very much to my liking as an ex-owner of a plethora of (very) small engined, low-powered cars. I've recently retired so my motoring needs are different. I managed to secure a good deal on a red Color Run special edition with electric fabric sun roof. I'll miss the Citigo but I really didn't want to go out and buy effectively the same car.

New car problems - Is it just ours?

We have had the Citigo from new  for 10 weeks now and problems aren't going away. It's a fun car to drive, economical and great commuter however, so far we have had to take it back to the dealership for:

The clicking clutch - sorted on the third occasion after emailing the Briskoda link indicating it was the clutch pedal assembly not a 'switch' at fault

The radio reception - fixed the same time as the clutch; headlining dropped and new amp fitted to the aerial

Tyre pressure warning - couldn't re-set so in yesterday and the dashboard switch was changed; now it's back on again and booked in for next week (all pressures are spot on btw)

Is it just our car, or are other new owners experiencing these problems. My dealer (no quibbles yet) is a 50 mile round trip so I will be using up my pcp mileage just fixing probs at this rate

LED indicators

Recomendations to avoid 'double speed' dashboard repeater?

Ive been through several offerings of CANBUS/error free amber LED indicators (across front/rear/side!) but all of them make the internal/audible dash repeater run at double speed - the indicator of a fault.
However, external operation is correct.

The double speed fault is caused by the lower current draw of the LED bulbs. I dont want to fit resistors.

Anyone found LED bulbs that dont double-speed? All my other bulbs are now LED and error-free.
(I'll post this into VW Up forum as well).

Does anyone know if city safe can be fitted/activated on a Citigo after it has been manufactured?
Having watched the Despatched programme tonight it looks as if it would be useful to have.

MY 2017 no more PID?

Just ordered a new SE L from the factory and have been told by the dealer about a few changes for 2017 MY that might happen to our car. Headlights will change to 2 separate bulbs. 15" alloys as standard. USB integration will replace CD player. But the main event is that the PID is being replaced by a holder for your phone. TomTom app will be FOC and will Bluetooth to the car.

Said goodbye to Scarlet on Wednesday.

2 years and 11 months, ran up 46,000 miles, ticked off Wales, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland.

Rolled up to a ton on the autobahns.

Sad to see her go.

Took off my 2nd set of Heko wind deflectors (1st set delivered by Yodel-esque service - shatterd into 6 pieces)

Removed the variable boot, as I couldn't order a Variable Boot and Spare Wheel at the dealers - bizarre Skoda ordering glitch.

The missus, decided she wanted one... a green Colour Edition, from DM Keith.

Interesting to see that things we moaned about 3 years  ago (and some the more productive hands on the forum solved these issues), have been taken on board & implemented.

NOW - there's a boot light, the parcel shelf raises on opening the boot (2 bits of string) and there's an internal grab handle, which means your hands don't get dirty when shutting the boot. Plus the driver can close the passenger window... think a Polish guy? had the first home grown mod of this.

Loved driving Scarlet on my 50-55 mile daily commute, aced the roundabouts and showed willing off the lights.

The future.... well I hope the Citigo will get Morego with the 1.0TSi.

When I came to looking at direct replacements, found my monthly payments would rise 25%.

Due to stingier dealer/Skoda contributions and more pertinently weaker residual values.

For the same money (and a £1000 deposit) = an extra £44pcm I could be driving a 1.6 TDi Golf.........)....

So still in the extended family.

I've still to fit Fiona (think Shrek) with the wind deflectors. Plus I need to source some good mats that clip down ......

4th Service?

swmbo's Sept 2012 Citigo is due its 4th service, all previous were part of a service agreement.

Had dealer ringing insisting it is due a cambelt on this visit?
I know it is either time or mileage and with 9k miles on the clock it ain't due on the later.

What is the recommended replacement interval and what did anyone pay if you had it done?

Regards
Ben

Upholstery damage help needed! !

Hi,
A friend of mine kindly left a cigarette burn in the passenger seat of my citigo while. It is on the bottom/seat part of the chair and burned through to the foam underneath, very visable.
I am hoping to take my skoda back to the dealer soon to exchange but want to figure out the beSt thing to do... They gave me a guaranteed risidual value on PCP/finance, so not sure if I should try and get it patched/fixed and hope they don't notice or just be honest and have them do it properly. Just unsure how much that would cost, worried it would be very expensive or make a massive difference to my value.
Thanks

MY17 order dilemma

I have a SE L greentech 75hp on order since early July and today the Dealer has confirmed that the car will be a MY17. Now the dilemma I have is that they don't even have a brochure to look at let alone a car to view, and that makes me uneasy. I've had a look at the new up so I've got an idea but I'm seriously considering cancelling the order.
There is lots of pre reg cars about at the moment but they are mainly 60hp S or SE that come nowhere near to the spec I had ordered. There are plenty of pre reg Up's too and they are generally a better spec in standard trims than the Citigo and 75hp is very easy to find. Aaarrhhh!!

Evening all!

Long time Briskoda member, recently with two Mk 2 Octys - '10 vRS petrol estate DSG in silver with most of the toys & a '10 Scout manual petrol with lots of toys too.

Have just chopped in the Scout for a 63-plate Citigo 75PS Elegance Greentech manual in silver. No longer needed two large petrol estates.

Loving the Citigo! What a clever car. Refined, roomy, comfy, well screwed together. No tax & massive (for me) mpg. Happy days!

Look forward to contributing here!

Cheers,
Dunc

Second hand PID, will it work?

Hi folks, first of all Hi to the Citigo section of the forum.
I've just ordered a Greenline SE but do fancy the Bluetooth functions of the Garmin PID, I already have a full euro satnav with lifetime updates so a nav is not important.
Anyway back to the question. Will a second hand PID work with my new car? I've searched but couldn't find anything conclusive?
Anyone done it.
Thanks.
Steve.

ENGINE BRAKING

Hi guys.

Been pondering this one for a while. Can anyone explain to me why, when I lift off the accelerator, my Citigo doesn't noticeably slow down?

Is it because it is a low volume 3 pot or does it open the exhaust valves to reduce compression???

I notice though that I do have engine braking if I change down??

Removing dash vent

Hello all,

Long story short - I've managed to lose something behind the air vent flaps (and mesh!) in my MY16 Citigo. I can hear it ratting and rolling around as I drive the car, and it is starting to get a little annoying.

Does anyone know of any way to remove the vents from the dash, so that I can get a vacuum cleaner (or whatever other appendage) down that to pull the object out? I want to avoid having to remove the whole dash, or having to take the car to a dealer and be charged the usual rates for my own stupidity.

Grateful for any help!

Edit: Forgot to mention MY.

PID Grave Error

Hello,

l have had my PID for a while and love it, however I accidentally formatted it while connected to my computer...

Yes I know I should know better, yes I wish I'd backed it up but these things happen I guess :(

Now it comes up with an error screen when trying to turn it on obviously because I've deleted everything on it!

Not recognised by Fresh any more unfortunately, so does anyone have a link to the software or would possibly be kind enough to copy all the files off their device and upload it somewhere for me to fix my own??

Thanks for your time guys!

Fitted New Headlamp Bulbs

I've just fitted a pair of Osram Night Breaker Unlimited headlight bulbs and was amazed how easy they were to fit especially as it's such a small engine compartment. Loads of room to get hands in. Must be one of the easiest modern cars to fit bulbs to.

Brand new Citigo - PID

Hi guys,

New here and new to this whole forum thing!! Just got my new 66 plate Citigo on Saturday.. Everything is brilliant apart from a problem with my parking sensors but that's all booked in to be fixed..

I have a question on the PID.. I'm fine with using it and have connected my phone (iPhone 6) up to it.. The music plays which is good but if I get out the car and back in I have to switch the Bluetooth off on my phone and back on again then re select the 'bt audio' from the menu to play it.. Is there a way to get round this?

Also since I've connected my phone when I get out the car and go back into my house If I try and play anything through my phone it just freezes and I have to restart my phone to get the music to play..

Can someone help me!!!

Thanks!

Garmin PID on 64 plate

Hi,

Got PID on my car and use a 32GB card for music.

Have had some issues with uneven volume which seems to relate to music from the SD card, had it in to be looked at but was told no problems could be identified. Have since got used to it but of late I have had issues where the display freezes, tend to have it in car info mode most of the time. Screen goes dim with no data showing.  Also have times when music (SD card) just stop, gain seems ot freeze.

Also have had speed warning from sat nav even with the program shut down (real pain, only solved htis by opening nav, set volume to mute and then shut it down again).  Downloaded latest software so its up to date. Contact points (x 2) on cradle are clean too.

Car is under warranty so should have no real issue there, just want to hear if anyone else have had problems before I make a call to Skoda.
