Citigo Read window - Is this a design fault

$

Hi

I have a citygo that has now had three passengerside rear windows replaced because they keep shattering.  This week it happened when the car was parked and the back door was opened.  Autoglass claim there is nothing wrong with the fixing screws being ovetightened.  Also told my daughter that there have been instances when people have gone over a speed hump and they have shattered.

I had Slodas for over 22 years without a problem, but non  of the others had this fold out window system of the citigo.

I am begining to wonder if there is a serious design fault so thought it worth trying a few owners to see if anybody else has had the problem?

Regards Tina

Citigo Passenger Rear Window Breaking/Shattering - Is this a design fault?

Hi

I have been a Skoda owner for 22 years and have never had a car with the push out window that the Citigo has.

We have now had three rear passenger windows break and shatter on our Citigo.  The last time was when the rear passenger door was opened.

Autoglass have checked and have said that there was no problem with the bolts/screws fixing the window into place.  The Autoglass guy also told my daughter that he had fitted new winsows where they had shattered when driving over a speed hump.

I am begining to wonder if there is a design fault or if other Citigo owners have had a similar problem?

Difference between 2013 and 2015 model

I had the pleasure of a loan 2015 Citigo elegance when my Ocky needed repair. I did notice a few differences over our 2013 model

Drivers door had both front window controls (a plus)

I liked the long doors on the 3 door model as it gave better visibility, however getting in and out the back was a pain.

Radio reception lousy. Probably as it only had the stubby aerial.

Gearbox seemed to have a more positive gate (but only had 4K on the clock)

No clutch pedal click. Luckily our 2013 model has had the mod to the new pedal box.

Seemed a little less engine/gearbox noise but that may just be the short time of having it.

Rear parking sensors seemed less sensitive.

Wipers seem to wipe slower?

I did notice the slight lack of power above 4K. Flatter but still eager to rev.

Still no boot light.

Citigo oil change

Any advice anyone has on changing oil on a Citigo would be gratefully received. I've done a couple of my past cars but just bought one of these and thought I would give it a go. Looks like oil filter is low down on the front of the engine. Thanks

2 Door, Wet Carpet. Any one else had the same?

Seems we have a leak and are getting wet carpet in the drivers footwell.
I know the Fabia Mk1 suffered from dodgy rear door seals.
Does the Citigo have the same problem, I wonder?

This only occurs after heavy rain, and I've just discovered jet washing causes it as well.
It's just out of warranty, by 2 months, and Skoda want £70 just to look at it, cheeky buggers!

Citigo -making things better-

Its been almost three years since we have a Citigo and the car is absolutely a rarity in our country. As I wish to make it better, I just tried to make things a little better in terms of looks and functionality. Here is my story about retrofitting things.

It's a Citigo 1.0 ASG + Sunroof Colorado Red, as a second car to my Skoda Superb.

Retrofits:

[EXT] 1ST 064 FL8 Metallic Black Race Stripes applied from the Sport version, It's a bit challenging to apply it with a sunroof.
[EXT] 1ST 071 494E FM9 Apus Metallic Black Rims
[EXT] As there is no option available as parking sensors a third party parking sensor installed with same colour.
[EXT] As I'd  like to show jawbones on front spoiler I used some black foils at the bottom
[EXT] Tinted Mirrors with films.

[INT] One of the challenging thing is that our cars doesnt feature navigation unit. Even there is no place to fit it in. So using the guides for VW Up! series. I bought required cable sets and hardware. Using a craft knife, I gently cut the hole and after a challenging radio removal.  I installed everything using the guide:  http://www.upownersclub.co.uk/forum/retrofitting-maps-more-solved_topic1041_page3.html

My next challenge was Map doesn't include Turkey. I browsed for Android version of the Navigon. extracted .map file to the device and voila! it works including POI information. So maps updates are free for me forever.

[INT] Finally as there is no light in the boot. I bought a Osram Nightlux Sensor Light which lights up immediately with the movement in the boot.

How to remove connector plug when upgrading headlamp bulbs

I've heard they are a pain to get off but I've been totally defeated trying to get the connector plugs off from the back of the bulbs!

Has anyone come up with a solution i.e some way of levering it off?

The problem seems to stem from the fact that the bulb doesn't stay in place when you try and pull the connector off - it just moves with it despite being clipped in.

I've tried wiggling/swearing but no joy so wondered if anyone has managed to find a way?

Had a pheasant push the black front grill partially out of alignment.

How best to get it back in line?

Pull back into place, or push the whole thing through & start again? Thanks.

Hi , can anyone help me please. I have recently purchased a new citigo s for my wife but am slightly confused by the dashboard cluster illumination. Mine only comes on when headlights are switched on and not on sidelights .The needles are illuminated but not the dials.  Dealer tells me this is correct on the newest models (purchased Nov ). ????

Hey guys,

I'm scouting around for a small car for the missus - Citigo, Mii, Up etc and was wondering, as I have an Octavia on PCP atm, do you think the dealer would offer a good deal if I were to take another car from them on a similar deal?

Cheers.

Dent removal or panel respray

I'll take pictures when it isn't raining, but I've gained a dent. It's on the passenger side rear panel, on the crease line that runs under the side windows, and it has gone through the paint to the metal. Would one of these dent removal services with the specialised kit be able to get to it and fix it, or is it going to be a panel respray job? The car is a Black edition with the metallic/pearl black paint. I'm paying monthly for the car, it isn't bought outright. So

A) leave it for now and fix it nearer to when the 3 years are up on the payments.
B) Respray job?
C) Dent removal and touch up.

Poor mpg?

Hi all

I'm driving a greentech 59ps SE citigo and I've noticed that I've been getting very very poor mpg. I tend to be soft with my accelerator around town though I do go at around an indicated 80 on the motorway (which according to my phone's gps is actually barely over 70mph). I've been rather confused as even with the best of attempts (no fast motorway driving, sticking to all speed limits) I've not been able to get over 54mpg (this is actual mpg based on running the tank from full to when the fuel indicator comes up and looking at how much petrol I put in rather than  PID readout)

People seem to recommend shell v-power on various forums and against my better judgement I gave it a go. And so far, it's not yielded any better economy though I do admit the car seems to run smoother.

So I was wondering, do you think it's the steel rims causing such poor mpg? People with the greentech model on HonestJohn seem to be posting 65mpg. Surely steel rims won't reduce MPG that much? Or is it just that I need to do more fill ups with v-power to get all the old fuel residue out? Only been a couple of tanks with v power.

Thanks y'all

How do most owners buy their cars - Outright or PCP

I see a lot of threads on here with people buying their cars through a PCP. What is the most common option for buying your car and how long do you normally keep them for.

For myself I have always bought my cars outright, serviced them myself and kept them a long time. I've never been too concerned about having a service book stamped, especially after the warranty has expired.

I also get the long term benefit from looking after my car and knowing it has been well serviced and touch wood, I have never had any major problems.

Downsizing!

About to hand back my company Octavia 1.6 Tdi DSG Elegance and pick up a used Citigo Sport on Saturday.

Should be interesting to compare difference between the Octavia that was 25K new to a 6K Citigo!

I really chose the Citigo from all the excellent reviews on here and elsewhere; owners seem delighted with theirs.

Mine is a 2014 Sport in Red. I chose it over others as it has 16" Serpens, cruise control, parking sensors, spare wheel, and mudflaps fitted.

Have to say that I am looking forward to actually driving again...snappy gearbox, revvy little engine...should be fun!

Thanks  to all the owners on here that have reported their own experiences...it's been a huge help.

Rattle from passenger side of dash?

$

My wife has just got her Citigo back after it was hit whilst she was turning right at a roundabout. Most of the impact was taken by the NSF wheel damaging the bumper and wing as well as the steering and suspension. The repair took 3 weeks and cost £4K! The car is fine now but has gained a loud rattle from the passenger side of the dash/A post area! I guess something has been disturbed? Has anyone got any ideas? I doubt her warranty will cover rattles on a 3 year old car? It is annoying as it was fine beforehand!

Does anyone have any issues with poor radio reception in the city? Ive had my citigo 3 months and the radio reception is very poor. In the city and areas it should be good it crackles and looses reception and in the rural areas i have hardly any reception at all - this is the same for all bbc channels and other local stations.
